Paris is the capital of France and the second largest city of Western Europe; it’s location straddling the banks of the river Seine make it a beautiful city to visit. Many couples decide to take short stay in Paris as it is probably the most romantic city in the world; if you have more time, it will make for a remarkable holiday, with many great sites to see.

This city is also equally well known for its Gothic architecture and markets; it is the home of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other famous tourist attractions. Like most European cities, Paris is easy to get around; the Metro underground train network will probably be the main method as it runs regularly and reaches every part of the city.

At almost 1,000 feet high, the Eiffel Tower is an impressive sight; it can be seen throughout most locations around the city. Illuminated in the evening, it is one of the most beautiful sights in the entire city; guided tours add to the thrill as you get to peek into history on how it was constructed.

On your Paris trip ensure you add the famous Champs Elysees to your list of places to visit; it’s where you will find all the top class hotels, shops and restaurants. This is considered a more exclusive and busy area of the city; the exclusive five star hotels situated in this more select part of the city might be out of most visitors’ price range.

If you are an art lover you will enjoy the Louvre, a truly amazing museum; it holds in excess of 300,000 pieces of art, which cannot possibly be seen in a single visit. It would be easy for anyone on a Paris short stay vacation to spend all their time here; the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo statue just two of many appreciated works of art. Over the years, Paris has been home to many of the world’s famous artists; chances are that you will have the opportunity to see a number of famous paintings whilst you’re visiting.

Of course, Napoleon commissioned the construction of the Arc de Triomphe, another Paris landmark; to honor his generals (and his troops) he had their names inscribed upon it. A little known fact is that there’s a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed; including all the avenues of which it is a focal point.

Of course this article can only give a small sample of places to visit; there are plenty of others to keep you occupied but to make the most of your time, use one of the guided tours. It’s an unfortunate fact that a Paris short stay vacation will only include some of the attractions; anything else on your ‘to see’ list can wait for your next trip.

So have fun in the great city of Paris. It is said that Paris gets seated in the blood, forever transforming visitors with a beckon from the past and a seduction of the present.
