Orlando Florida - A Great Place To Vacation
By Kay Brown | May 13, 2008
As an Orlando vacation devotee, I can recommend all of the theme parks, but did you know the area is brimming with other excellent visitor attractions without a roller coaster in sight. Orlando Town is also your destination for museums, galleries, historical places, edifices, flea markets, churches and much more. Florida in general has a long history of attracting tourists and this is the busiest city with more and more people visiting each year in a place that will satisfy even the most demanding of individuals.
Orlando really is one of the most visitor friendly cities in the world with fantastic shopping facilities like Church Street Station, a multi-level shopping and amusement center, with shops, eating places, clubs and bars. With so many things to see, the information provided here cannot even brush the surface of what you can see on an Orlando Vacation, but it will give an insight into some of the ‘not so well publicized’ attractions.
Animal lovers love to visit the 38 year old Central Florida Zoological Park in Sanford, home of a great collection of about 400 hundred terrific animals. The zoo has a charity status and is dedicated to the preservation of all exotic animals, including those that are only found in Florida.
It is also possible to see a large collection of the works of Louis Tiffany at the Museum of American Art over in Winter Park. The famous chapel interior commissioned for the World’s Columbian Exhibition back in 1893 is also here along with many items of Tiffany jewelry, leaded glass, ornaments and clayware.
Surprisingly, Orlando is not just about fun for the children because adults are very well catered for in this entertainment town. There is also plenty to do in the evening when you take an Orlando vacation with family shows like the Pirates adventure or for adults, Disney’s Pleasure Island and Universals city walk.
Another popular attraction is the Orlando Science Center and is in fact one of the largest buildings of its type allowing the visitor access to ten huge exhibition halls. Then there is the International Trolley and Train Museum where you can see toy trains from the 1920s; plus take a ride in a California Victorian-style half open/half closed trolley car.
On International Drive there is the Mercado Center which is the home to the wonderfully moving, sad and at times eerie Titanic exhibition which actually displays a number of original items from the great ship. For those who prefer a little peace and relaxation they can visit the beautiful lake Eola Park where there are forty three acres of land to roam freely; it includes a boating lake.
Not all theme parks in Orlando are based purely on rides as the fantastic Seaworld will attest but if you want rides then you have the Disney resort theme parks and Universal studios too. Whatever you want from a vacation, Orlando can supply it and you don’t have to work hard at finding it either; next time you are there, try some of the other attractions, you won’t be disappointed.
